Charleton School sits very much at the heart of the West Charleton Village community.
The PTFA work alongside the village Events Committee to help organise such things as the Village Fete and 2012’s Olympic Torch Relay event.
The younger children are familiar faces around the village; they enjoy meeting local people on their walks and adding to the logbook in the Bird Hide on the marsh. Local naturalist Gordon Waterhouse leads some of our Welly Walks; teaching the children about bird life, the range of seaweeds on our shores and the best place to find crabs!
The school is also involved closely with the wider Kingsbridge Community. The older children sing at Abbeyfield Retirement House every Christmas. The children also collect produce for the Kingsbridge Food Bank as part of our Harvest Service in church.
The school has also been involved with the local Police carrying out Speed Watch campaigns outside the school.
